The Government Degree college, Pattikonda, Kurnool Dist. Was established with an initialstrength of 88 students with B.A., & B.Com courses in 1988 in Government Junior college. Since its inception, it has been striving hard to impart quality and job oriented education to the students of socially and economically backward area of Kurnool district. With the unstinted efforts of Sri. S.V.Subba ReddyGaru, the then agriculture Minister, the foundation stone laid for the construction of new building. This degree college was shifted to new buildings constructed in 6.4 acres of land in 1996, inaugurated by Sri S.V.Subba Reddy Garu. Having got its own buildings, B.Sc (MPC & BZC) courses were introduced in1997.
Principals of the college with the help of local public made diligent efforts for the progress of this institution, thus turning it into an excellent temple of learning. Their services leave behind a vivid account of their deep-rooted love for the development of this institution.
Need based courses such as B.Sc., (Computer Science) & B.Com (Computer Applications)were introduced in 2003 and 2011 respectively to make our stake holders to take advantage of the global employment opportunities. under the U.G.C. XI plan
11 lakhs were spent for the construction of conference hall and 6 lakhs were used for construction of Girls and Women Toilets, Sri. S.V. Mohan Reddy Hono’ble M.L.C., released grants from MLC lads for installation of R.O.Water plant.Thecollegeis very muchindebted to SriS.V.MohanReddy Garufor his philanthropic outlook.
Innovative teaching and learning methods are adopted which include student centered learning, seminars, G.Ds and assignments. Besides Mana T.V. Guest lectures and invited lectures enhance the quality of education with values and latest concepts. Field trips are arranged to broaden the outlook of the students. Academically backward students are identified andspecial care is taken to sharpen their skills by conducting remedial coaching
Cerment cell is making relentless efforts to address the problems of the girl students. Apart form conducting various competitions for the girls, if instills confidence to face the challenges of the society bravely. Grievance Redressal cell is taking all steps to solve the issues of the students. Students are given freedom to express their grienvances with out hesitancy. The faculty is alive to their issues always. Due to the sincere efforts, ragging has been totally eliminated in the campus.
Eco club is at its best in maintaining greenery in the campus. On the games and sports front, physical education department deserves great
appreciation as it is putting untiring efforts in shaping students into bright and talented. Transparency and accountability is ensured in all matters at all
levels through scrupulous adherence to rules and regulations C.P.D.C. is extending its co-operation in the rapid progress of the institution.
Staff council and other committes monitor infrastructure, academic, administrative and financial aspects of the institution. IQAC co-ordinates the academic ambience of the institution by constantly interacting with the faculty.
Being a socially responsive organization, the institution is putting allits endeavors to improve the lotof the stake holdets through value based education
and relevant community development activites. The college anticipates a good number of its students will become socially responsible citizens who can
make the society a better place to live in. Cherishing a strong will to face the challenges and excel in achieving aims and objectives of the institution,
the college is gearing up itself for reaccreditation by NAAC. With all the above efforts our college strength has been increased to 875.
Change of Affiliation- From 1988 to 2009 our college was under the affiliation of Sri Krishnadevaraya University, Anantapur. Recently our college
affiliated to Rayalaseema University, Kurnool.
